Whitewater is the story of a whitewater rafting trip. It reflects the unpredictability of the water, the thrill of moment to moment changes, challenges, and split-second adaptability. Ultimately, it reflects the glory of adventure and gratefulness for survival. After writing about a page and a half of this piece, i asked myself, “what is this piece about?” The answer immediately became clear! My family is full of outdoorsy people. I, on the other hand, am allergic to trees, grass, dust…the air, virtually. The beach is my only safe outdoor haven. So I found it intriguing that my first piano piece would reflect an effort to join my family in some of their most beloved pursuits.
