ABOUT ME
I am a pianist, composer, vocalist, and musical storyteller. The thwarting of my youthful yet well-founded dreams of an opera career, single motherhood, and a 30-year career in wealth management have fueled my relentless renewed pursuit of a performance and composition career.

I am active in the Richmond performing arts scene, performing in church classical concert series, with the Richmond Chamber Players, with Commonwealth Concert Opera, and at VCUArts’ “Music Around the World” one-day festival. I have also performed for the Richmond Public Library Gellman Series, at Westminster Canterbury, and at the Williamsburg Library.

I live in Richmond, VA with my husband and close to my daughter and her family. I also love dancing ballet, film, and the ocean.

BIO
Lisa Ruth Niemeier is a pianist, composer, opera singer, and a musical storyteller. Since becoming a composer in May, 2023, her works have gained national and international recognition. Her works have been premiered by renowned artists both international and domestic. Also a recording artist with Oclassica, a classical music recording label, her works are featured on all streaming platforms. As a performing composer, her piano and composition performances include church classical music series, the VCUArts “Music Around the World” one day festival with the Richmond Music Teachers Association, the US premier of her work, “Breaking the Walls,” with the Richmond Chamber Players, and lecture recitals at La Frontera International Piano Conference at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley.

The heartless denial of her professionally encouraged adolescent dream of becoming an opera star has fueled a later-in-life composition and performance career pursuit that is relentless. Lisa Ruth relishes performing. And her recently discovered love for composing has only added fuel to her artistic fire.
Emanating from her operatic roots, Lisa Ruth distinguishes her performances and her compositions by creating stories inspired by the music she composes as well as by composers whose music she grew up adoring. In her proprietary “Storyed Recitals™”, she ties segments of her stories to the particular passages in the music that illustrate them, offering audiences a present-day, deeply engaging experience. She performs solo piano and collaboratively in various chamber settings. Her commissions emanate from rising stars and established concert artists.
