James Taylor is an internationally celebrated performer, recitalist, and vocal coach. He has sung title roles in classically beloved operas and operettas both as a baritone and a tenor. He was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera District Auditions for Connecticut and Alabama and was a finalist in the Dutch International Vocal Competition, the International Belvedere/Hans Gabor Competition. He has performed on numerous opera stages including New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, and other prominent stages across the globe. In 2021, he founded the only opera company based in Richmond, VA, Commonwealth Concert Opera which is now Opera Richmond.
