Program Note
This piece is the story of one woman’s journey of resilience and finally overcoming the obstacles that faced her at every stage of her life. It reflects betrayal, despair, despondency, resourcefulness, determination, grit, hope, and finally, breaking free. It is written to give hope to any marginalized person who feels defeated and downtrodden and who thinks the forces inhibiting their dreams are too great to overcome. Step by step, obstacle by obstacle, the walls can - and do - come down.
